Dewaxing / Winterization
De-Waxing System for Edible Oils
De-waxing / Winterization is a critical refining process designed to remove waxes and high-melting saturated glycerides from vegetable oils. These components crystallize at low temperatures, leading to haze formation and poor cold stability. A properly engineered edible oil dewaxing plant ensures clear, bright oil with excellent low-temperature stability.
DVC’s winterization system is specifically developed for oils like sunflower oil, rice bran oil, corn oil, cottonseed oil, avocado oil & olive oil.

Edible Oil Dewaxing Process Technology
In the vegetable oil dewaxing/winterization process, oil is gradually cooled in specially designed crystallizers with pre-determined cooling programme. The crystallizers are fitted with controlled-speed agitators that promote precise nucleation and crystal growth, forming larger and more easily filterable wax crystals.
Once the desired crystallization level is achieved, the oil–wax slurry is subjected to filtration using appropriate filtration options depends on plant capacity (plate-and-frame/gravity filtration) where wax get separated from oil. The wax deposited on filter leaves undergoes squeezing process to recover residual free oil along with waxes. In this process waxes recovered are free from any contamination like filter aids.
