Oil Refining Technology

Overview of Edible Oil Refining

Edible & Vegetable Oil Refinery Solutions

DVC offers advanced edible oil refining solutions designed to transform crude vegetable oils into high-quality, market-ready products that meet global food safety, sensory, and stability standards. Refining is a critical process that removes impurities, off-odours, unwanted colour, and undesirable chemical constituents — producing oil that is flavourless, odourless, visually appealing, and suitable for human consumption.
Crude oils derived from pressing or solvent extraction typically contain contaminants such as free fatty acids (FFA), phosphatides (gums), pigments, hydrocarbons, sterols, tocopherols, trace metals, and odouriferous compounds. The refining process efficiently eliminates these components while preserving valuable triglycerides, improving oil yield, stability, and sensory quality.

Why Edible Oil Refining is Essential

Refining is necessary to meet both regulatory and commercial quality requirements. By removing non-glyceride undesirable compounds & impurities on health point of view as well as aesthetic look in some cases!

Better oxidative stability and shelf life

Enhanced colour and clarity

Improved flavour and odour

Higher purity and market value

Compliance with food safety standards

These improvements make the oil suitable for a wide range of applications including cooking oil, salad oil, industrial usage in food products and specialty refined products.

Our Refining Process Capabilities

At DVC, our edible oil refining technology incorporates a customizable process depending on oil type, crude quality and required product specifications. Our systems are engineered for efficient operations in respect to processing cost, product qulity and ease of operations and maintenance.
  • Degumming (for solvent extracted oils)
  • Neutralization (for degummed oils & mechanical press extracted oils)
  • Bleaching (pre-treatment & bleaching)
  • Deodorization (de-acidification in case of high FFA oils followed by deodorization)
  • Dewaxing / Winterization (for wax containing oils like sunflower, corn and rice bran oil)
