Crystallizer
Crystallizer
Impurities that are soluble in the mainstream product, with varying melting points / solidification points, can be separated by careful crystallization followed by separation by using centrifugal devices if do possess differential specific gravity else by filtration. For the solidification of these impurities in oil, such as waxes or high molecular weight / saturated fatty acids, the crystal design plays the major role.
Crystal formation is principally a phenomenon initiated by nuclei, which are then surrounded by similar material to form the visible crystal structure. Crystallizer design plays a major role in achieving proper crystallization. It must incorporate a gentle homogenization system, with heat transfer and its rate adaptable to the process liquid temperature; the balance between heat transfer and mass homogenization is key to the crystallizer’s performance.
DVC’s unique design of concentric double coil with ‘H’-shape agitator helps in homogenizing the oil mass between concentric coil bundles.
Size of the crystals is key for filtration rate and quality of the filtered (dewaxed / winterized oil)
