DUALSCRUB® – Two-Stage Distillate Scrubbing Technology

DUALSCRUB® – Two-Stage Distillate Scrubbing Technology

DUALSCRUB® is an advanced two-stage scrubbing system developed to add value to deodorizer distillate by separating it into two streams: the first is high-boiling and tocopherol-rich, and the other is low-boiling – FFA rich.

Typical processing conditions to distill out the optimum tocopherol-rich constituent are high vacuum – 1.5 – 1.2 torr @ deodorization temperature 2500 C.

This is a vertically mounted direct contact condensation system where vapors and liquid flow in counter current to each other, results in optimal efficiency!

Hot Scrubber Zone (D804A):

Vapors are first condensed at temperatures above 170 – 190°C. This produces high-boiling-point hot distillates rich in tocopherols, sterols, and tocotrienols. The high-boiling scrubbed part does contain tocopherols in the range 12 – 15%

Cold Scrubber Zone (D804B):

The remaining volatile components are condensed at 60–80°C as FFA-rich distillates, whereas non-condensed vapors are vented out by the vacuum system. Low boiling constituent FFA ranging 67 – 80%
